At a time when Islamophobia is on the rise we see this work of open and honest dialogue being more essential then ever in avoiding misunderstandings and therefore, breaking down barriers between Muslims and the wider society. The demand for this work has extended beyond Bristol and to communities who do not often interact with Muslims or in fact, may have never done so.
At the same time, we understand that if we are to genuinely challenge Islamophobia, we must also challenge some of the issues within the Muslim community itself. We have looked to address some of these concerns through our work with the Muslim Youth Forums mentioned above as well as other projects past and present under community development.
